SSC NEWS UPDATE

SSC examinees create ruckus, boycott exam 28 Nov, 2010 2317hrs IST TNN RANCHI: Examinees appearing for combined higher secondary level examination, 2010 conducted by Staff Selection Commission, Eastern Region created a ruckus and boycotted the test following shortage of question paper and widespread rumours of leakage of question paper. An examinees, Kasif Raza, who boycotted the first sitting of the examination, alleged that first they were not allowed to enter the centre in the morning. After they protested they were allowed in but soon the examinees came to know that over100 applicants had not received question paper. "We also heard that some examinees had got the answer paper before the examination commenced. All the applicants unanimously decided to boycott the examination," Raza, who was to write the test at zila school, said. A section of examinees even snatched the answer scripts from those who were not willing to boycott the test. To ensure that no one returns to the examination hall, they tore the answer papers. An official at the examination centre supported the students and blamed the commission for the ruckus. "The commission had sent a list of 400 candidates but we received only 288 question papers. If the examinees created ruckus they should not be blamed for it as youngsters cannot sit quietly and wait for commission's decision," the official said. The students were pacified by Sadar SDO Shekhar Jamuar who arrived the centre after receiving about the incident. He assured the students that their grievances would be passed on to the authorities concerned. Examination in the second sitting passed off peacefully as the examinees got question paper on time.
